CALERO B
Grey PRE colt born October 2011
KEFREN (imp frozen semen) x Altair VIII (imp)

This lovely young colt, Calero B (Cal) will prove to be an asset to any breeding venture. He has an outstanding nature and is very well mannered with other horses (he is currently paddocked with another colt, a gelding, and a mare). His movement is very good with great elevation, high knee and hock action, and no winging. He is slowly greying out and is expected to reach around 15.3hh when mature.

About ALTAIR VIII:

Altair VIII was bred by Yeguada Aimaran in southern Spain and has offspring in Spain, Germany and Australia. She is a classical beauty, is 80% Carthusian, has a wonderful nature and amazing movement.

Her sire, Animador II, is pure Carthusian and consistently produces type and movement. He is also the sire of several Calificado horses. He stamps his offspring with his beautiful head and movement. Animador was bred by Ganaderia Las Lumbreras, a very old Spanish stud that is renown for their pure Bocado horses. Animador is a tall stallion and has excellent functionality. He is the sire of two Calificado horses – Quejio, and the beautiful mare Aldebaran XVIII (one of the few mares in the world that are Calificado graded). He is also the sire of Pegaso XX, a stallion that is competing with success at PSG level.

Altair’s dam, Jabega, was shown with much success as a young mare winning many awards for her fabulous movement as well as being part of the successful Yeguada Aimaran cobra. The dam of Jabega, Normanda (Bohorquez Ruiz), is also the dam of Ingenioso XX. Ingenioso is a Calificado graded stallion who has won a large number of gold medals at conformational championships and has also been Champion of the Breed and Champion of Functionality many times. He was Champion Dressage Horse at SICAB in 2001, and was pre-selected to be part of the Spanish Team competing at the Athens Olympics. His offspring have been exported throughout Europe where they are now competing at high level dressage.

In 2004, KEFREN participated in the Spanish exam for PRE stallions (Tribunal de Reproductores Calificados) obtaining the title of Qualified PRE Stallion and achieving a great grade. In that same year, KEFREN successfully participated in a Level A Spanish National Competition in Valencia, securing the top position. In 2005, he participated in a similar competition in Segovia (Spain) achieving again the number 1 position with a qualification of 68%.

In 2005, Jan Bemelmans, the Spanish National Trainer, visited LOS ARCOS' stallions and pointed out the quality of KEFREN's movements. At the end of 2005, KEFREN was retired from competitions to focus entirely on reproduction activities.
